Simpson Strong-Tie SDWF Structural Wood Screw

June 28, 2012

The inclusion of a take-up washer (TUW) on the new SDWF structural wood screw from Simpson Strong-Tie allows easy attachment of upper and lower walls from the top, with an easy-to-install connection within the continuous uplift load path of the structure. The washer also helps with shrinkage compensation, as the threaded portion of the screw ratchets up through the washer tabs, preventing the screw from sliding back under load.
