Yes, knowing all the players and by their right name is priceless. I have prided myself on this time-tested attribute for over 35 years now. It does indeed pay-off well. This also goes for hiring. I have to know them or their family, or by their good reputation before I even talk to someone who wants to come into my family. It's my reputation that is on the line. I treat my circle of sub-contractors the same way. I set the standards by which they are judged or how they must perform for me. I deal swiftly with poor craftsmanship, especially from those who claim to be mastercraftsmen. I am, and know a phoney.
