I (and my fellow HousingZone bloggers) have been lamenting the lack of discussion of housing issues amongst the presidential candidates, so it seems only fair to point out when a candidate actually does say something.
On Friday, Hillary Clinton made a speech in Los Angeles where she laid out what she would do about the current economic (and housing) woes. You can read the full text here, but these were the key things she called for:
- A 90-day moratorium on foreclosures
- A five-year freeze on mortgage rates
- $25 billion in emergency assistance to cover rising heating costs
- A $30 billion fund to "help hard-hit communities and distressed home owners weather the foreclosure crisis."
- A Green Building Fund of unspecified size to encourage green construction
