Survey says: Customers want it all

ReliableRemodeler.com (apparently a contractor referral service, although this is the first I've heard of them) just sent me the results of a homeowner survey they conducted.
On the positive side, the most important factor when choosing a remodeler was quality of work at 38 percent. Unfortunately, it just beat out price at 35 percent, so most likely these results are equal when one takes into account the "margin of error." Guess we know which ones you should be targeting.
Speaking of that, a lot's been written about the importance of women in the decisionmaking process. Let's hope that's true, because they ranked both workmanship and customer service above price as important factors. On the other hand, 46 percent of men said price was the most important part of the decision.
81 percent of homeowners said they were satisfied with the last contractor they hired. Of those that weren't, 66 percent said quality of the work was the reason. (Gee, think choosing the low bid had anything to do with that?)
And got to give ReliableRemodeler.com credit for reporting this tidbit. Only 7 percent of respondents had found their last remodeler using the Internet, well behind referrals (38%), phonebook (16%) and newspaper ads (11%).
