Cleaning out my inbox

I'm just getting back today from a week out of the office, so it seemed like a good time to clean out my inbox and report on some of the interesting items that have come across my actual and virtual desktops lately.
Copper theftsApparently, theft of copper pipes and wiring from job sites is becoming a growing problem, with people in some cases taking ridiculous risks to get a few dollars worth of copper. Police across the country are reporting a rise in copper thefts as scrap prices have gone up. In some cases, authorities say it is employees and subcontractor employees responsible for the thefts. Overpriced markets
Forbes magazine has released its list of the most overpriced housing markets. Topping the market was San Diego, followed by Miami, Sacramento and San Francisco. The least overpriced were Charlotte, N.C.; Austin, Texas; and Raleigh, N.C. The magazine came up with the list by looking at a number of factors, including median home price, local rents and the NAHB's affordability index.
New tax incentives
The bill funding the war in Iraq, because of a convoluted series of deals, also includes a minimum wage hike and new tax breaks for small business. For construction firms, the biggest news is a one-year extension of Section 179, which allows a small business to expense the cost of purchasing equipment all at once instead of depreciating it over several tax years. The cap on the deduction was also raised from $112,000 to $125,000.

Jonathan, Your Generation X article is fanastic. In fact, we have been sharing it with all our customers who feel it is exactly what we have been saying since early 2005, and that is "Smart remodelers are realizing they need to court this age group if they want to build their business.". But "courting" the business is only a piece of it, they must also be smarter and more efficient in how they manage the business. We have now more than 110+ companies (and growing) of smart remodelers who are simply not looking to run their business the way dad did. It is amazing that there are a lot of contractors who actually know what FaceBook and MySpace is. We are doing the same with the Generation X Contractor and welcome all those that understand what we are about and where we are going. Thanks for putting the sales spin on it. Brian Javeline, the rest of the MyOnlineToolBox team and customers.
