The hidden good news in sales numbers

A few positive things out of today's new home sales report (down 0.6 percent from May, down 33 percent from a year ago) that you may have missed:
- May's numbers were revised upwards from an annual rate of 512,000 to 533,000
- The June numbers (530,000) were much higher than economists' consensus forecast of 505,000
- The inventory of new homes for sale fell 5.3 percent in June -- better, but still a 10-month supply
Nothing to celebrate, certainly, but maybe a positive sign for the future.
