As senior editor of Professional Remodeler, a lot of information crosses my desk. This blog will be a chance to share some of that with you, with an immediacy not possible with a monthly magazine. It's also your chance to tell me what you think about what I have to say. Whether you agree or disagree, I hope you won't be shy. Post here, write me at jonathan.sweet@reedbusiness.com or you can also follow me on Twitter at www.twitter.com/sweetedit.

Fly for free when you remodel with me!

This just showed up in my inbox from Chicago remodeler Omarica Home Builders.
For every dollar spent with Omarica Home Builders, CEO Ahmed Abdelaziz will give his customer one Delta Skymile. This is a one of a kind partnership that Ahmed pursued in order to give back to clientele. “I noticed that I had a lot of repeat customers and I wanted to show my gratitude to them as well as to my new customers” says Ahmed Abdelaziz. He goes on to state, “This is my way of saying thank you as well as providing them with an incentive to go ahead and get their dream kitchen or spa bathroom.”
It's certainly a great deal for the customer -- a big project could keep you flying for life -- but I wonder if it will really end up increasing business. I can't imagine a lot of people making a major decision like remodeling based on getting free airline tickets. Actually, take a look at the riots outside stores on Black Friday every year and maybe it's not so farfetched ...
Personally, I prefer the idea of a loyalty program (like Case's that I wrote about last year), which encourages repeat business.
