Jonathan Sweet - Remodeling Notes

Jay Sweet
As senior editor of Professional Remodeler, a lot of information crosses my desk. This blog will be a chance to share some of that with you, with an immediacy not possible with a monthly magazine. It's also your chance to tell me what you think about what I have to say. Whether you agree or disagree, I hope you won't be shy.

Types of clients and more quick hits

Just a few quick hits today from items out there on the Web:

  • The Pardon Our Dust blog on LATimes.com takes a look at the four types of clients. Pretty much spot on in my opinion.
  • A new study says consumers want to buy green products ... as long as the price stays low and quality stays high. They also want to date someone with a good personality as long as they're rich, smart and good-looking.
  • Jimi Hendrix's brother, Leon, is trying to sell his house, looking to capitalize on his brother's fame. The house is literally filled with trash, has no water or power and is listed at just under $500,000.
  • No big surprise ... home prices continued to drop last quarter. Housing starts were up in October, but that was due solely to a big jump in multifamily, which is notoriously volatile. That said, apartment renovations might be a good niche to be looking at these days.
  • And finally, a welcome to the Housing Zone blogosphere to two of my colleagues: Nick Bajzek, our products editor, and Erin Hallstrom Erickson, the managing editor for our new construction magazines.
