There are a lot of blogs dedicated to the home and construction industry. Here are a few worth bookmarking or setting up in your RSS feed – which I find to be the best way to keep up with blogs. (And for information on setting up an RSS feed, check out this blog by our editorial director Paul Deffenbaugh.)
- The InmanNews Blog – A fun blog put out by the folks at Inman News, a real estate website and news service. The blog does a good job of finding the real estate stories that a lot of others miss.
- Realty Check – A blog by Diane Olick, the real estate reporter for CNBC. Olick gets a lot of attention from the main stream media and the big builders, so her opinions matter. She knows her stuff and isn't afraid to ruffle a few feathers, although she does seem to like bragging about ruffling those feathers just a little too often.
- Notes from Jim Haughey – Haughey is the chief economist for Reed Construction Data. (RCD shares a corporate parent with Professional Remodeler, Reed Business Information) Haughey blogs on all sort of economic data from housing starts to employment numbers, and gives some analysis that typical writers (including yours truly) can't because they don't have the same economics background.
- Pardon our Dust - Kathy Price-Robinson writes this consumer-oriented blog for the LA Times. While heavily focused on the Southern California market, it does offer some interesting tidbits for any remodeler.
