Consumer Reports has taken a look at the kitchen this month. The issue examines ways consumers can save money and what the best values are, as well as rates several categories of products.
Among the highlights:
- For the first time, two bamboo products have topped the magazine's wood floor ratings. Teragren Synergy was rated as the top prefinished solid wood and Armstrong Locking Hardwood Bamboo as the best engineered wood.
- Other top flooring products were Armstrong Nature's Gallery American Duet in the plastic laminate category and Congoleum DuraStone HPF Hearthstone in the vinyl category.
- Amana, GE and Kenmore got the best scores amongst refrigerators.
- GE, Kenmore, Frigidaire, Maytag, Samsung and Hotpoint products topped the ratings for ranges and cooktops.
- Kenmore, Whirlpool and Bosch scored the highest for dishwashers.
