A round-up of some news you may have missed over the last week:
- California is doing a little to chase down unlicensed contractors, mounting undercover stings a la the ones used to catch sex predators.
- The record level for gas prices is still short of the expected peak, according to this story at CNN.com.
- Calculated Risk takes a look at the latest start numbers and says we may finally be nearing the point where inventory will start declining, albeit slowly.
- The Wall Street Journal looks at the idea that government policies encouraging homeownership are responsible for the current mess. They make some good points. Let's face it -- there were plenty of people who never should have bought homes because they couldn't handle the costs or the responsibility and the rest of us are paying for their greed and stupidity.
- Carl Seville is now blogging on green construction for us. Be sure to check out his new blog, The Green Building Curmudgeon. Carl is the founder of SawHorse, an award-winning design/build firm in Atlanta, and now runs his own consulting business. We're thrilled to have him on board.
