An interesting flier showed up on my door yesterday ...
Another homeowner in our neighborhood is looking to move quickly because of an out-of-state transfer. They own the "Governor's House," the largest model in the subdivision. If somebody with a smaller model buys their house, they'll buy the buyer's house. It seems they have a relative looking for a smaller home that wants to live in our neighborhood.
Still not sure what to think of this ... sign of desparate times or just a creative approach?
Here are a couple of other things I've noticed lately.
- The New York Times writes about Arizona's tough new immigration policy, which is set to take effect Jan. 1.
- The National Association of Realtors, which has been just a tad more um ... optimistic ... than most economists during the current downturn is expecting a slight rebound in existing home sales in 2008. Harvard research consistently shows an uptick in remodeling activity immediately after the sale of an existing home, so that's important. On the other hand, over the weekend Fannie Mae CEO Daniel Mudd said he didn't expect a housing recovery until 2009 or 2010 (read more here.)
- The NAHB will be chiming in with its opinions Thursday when the group holds its year-end housing forecast teleconference. Be sure to check my blog Thursday afternoon, as I'll be posting my take on it immediately afterward.
- Fellow HousingZone blogger Erin Erickson talks about why search engine optimization is important to builders. A lot of her points apply to remodelers as well.
