In this month's cover story, I wrote about remodelers that are giving back to the community and industry. I know that many remodelers are involved in charities in their communities. Here are just a few of the examples I heard about in recent months, but couldn't fit into the article.
- The Kawartha Lakes Construction Co., Lakefield, Ontario, hosts an annual baseball tournament, BBQ and live auction to raise money for local non-profits. The company has raised more than $12,000 over the last five years.
- Talmadge Construction, Aptos, Calif., has an annual volunteer day where employees are paid for a day of charitable work.
- Conneely Contracting, Arlington, Mass., has run several fundraisers for the Children's Room, an organization that helps children that have lost a parent, sibling or other loved one.
- Creative Contracting, North Wales, Pa., has done extensive volunteer work in areas hit by Hurricane Katrina in Mississippi.
- S.D. Lohr Inc., Waldorf, Md., has been working with the local Christmas in April chapter for a decade.
