Jonathan Sweet - Remodeling Notes

Jay Sweet
As senior editor of Professional Remodeler, a lot of information crosses my desk. This blog will be a chance to share some of that with you, with an immediacy not possible with a monthly magazine. It's also your chance to tell me what you think about what I have to say. Whether you agree or disagree, I hope you won't be shy.

Remodeling has always been a regional business, but that seems to be even more true today. For an article in this month's issue, we talked to remodelers all over the country about what they're expecting for the rest of this year and beyond. We heard everything from "best market ever" to "as bad as I've ever seen it." So how are things in your area?

The market in Boston down to cape cod is more reserved than it was in the recent past due to interest rate rise foreclosure rates on the rise etc.. You must stand out these days with a superior service and have a better understanding of your customers their wants/needs and fears

Our Company in Naples, FL has remained steady. We are at the same sales/production level as last year. We are planning for a stable market with little or no increase for 2008, but remaining steady overall. We are beefing up our marketing as well as becoming more creative with our market reach.

We're experiencing our best year in the last 10 years. Please don't tell our clients that the Phoenix area is a weak market, they don't know it yet, and hopefully never will....

update about the Phoenix market. This market is all but shut down as of the summer of 08. While we did well in 06 and 07, 08 will see half the sales of those years. HELP!
