Jonathan Sweet - Remodeling Notes

Jay Sweet
As senior editor of Professional Remodeler, a lot of information crosses my desk. This blog will be a chance to share some of that with you, with an immediacy not possible with a monthly magazine. It's also your chance to tell me what you think about what I have to say. Whether you agree or disagree, I hope you won't be shy.

New NARI groups could be a boon for small firms

Some cool news out of the NARI fall board meetings. The group is starting a new peer networking program aimed at smaller firms with sales in the $250,000 to $750,000 range. It was designed to complement, rather than compete with, Business Networks and Remodelers Advantage, whose services are typically best for firms with more than $1 million in sales.

In effect, the program should help small firms get to the point where those groups would be more useful to them. Unlike BN and RER, the NARI program won't require the travel that makes those groups tough for smaller companies to commit to. Instead, the information will be presented using conference calls and Web technology.

I consistently hear from remodelers that peer groups have played huge roles in their success and growth, so this is a big benefit for NARI's smaller members, and something any small firm would be wise to take advantage of.

The pilot program will launch soon. For more information, visit www.nari.org.
