Fireside Fireplace Facelift Contest Winners Announced

Plymouth, Minn. couple has a new fireplace and a room makeover worth $8,000

Minneapolis, June 16, 2009 — Lynda and Steve Meland of Plymouth, Minn., are the proud winners of the 2009 Fireside Hearth & Home Fireplace Facelift Contest. Since winning the contest in April, a new fireplace has been installed in their living room, along with furniture from Fireside Hearth & Home. The total value of their custom room makeover was $8,000.

According to the Melands, who have been in their home for 17 years, their house was very cool in the winter. They wanted to add warmth and comfort to the living room with an energy-efficient fireplace. They also believed that a fireplace could completely transform the space – and they were right. The Heat & Glo direct vent gas fireplace they chose has made it a new room, as can be seen in the “before” and “after” photos (at right).

The fireplace is clearly the focal point of the room now, complemented by the furniture and accessories. They chose cottage-style décor, which fits nicely with their home. The Meland’s worked with the Maple Grove Fireside Hearth & Home location to design and install their fireplace, and chose their new furniture from the collection at the Minnetonka location.
