Habitat for Humanity’s U.S. branches have passed the 400,000-house milestone in the United States during the 2010 fiscal year, the Lexington Clipper-Herald reported.

During the 2010 fiscal year, Habitat helped 74,960 families worldwide either with construction, rehabilitation, or repairs.

"We are pleased that, even in this difficult economy, Habitat for Humanity has been able to help a record number of families around the world have a better place to live," said Jonathan Reckford, CEO of Habitat for Humanity International. "Our affiliates are the backbone of Habitat's efforts. Their hard work and dedication have made this milestone possible."

The organization passed the 300,000-home milestone in 2008 and hopes to help 100,000 families every year worldwide by 2013.
