EmailConstruction Begins on Denver Co-Housing Community
Construction began recently on Aria Denver, an $80 million co-housing project in Colorado. It is the only co-housing community planned in Denver.
Designed by lead architect Michelle Kauffman, along with Oz Architects and Humphries Poli Architects, the 25-acre community will offer retail options, as well as senior housing, apartments and townhomes. The design of the property focuses on urban agriculture and sustainability and will also feature community gardens.
The building team also includes developers Urban Ventures and Perry-Rose and site planning firm Calthorpe Associates.
The city of Denver allocated $5 million to the Aria Denver project. According to the North Denver Tribune, the project will be completed in two phases. Phase I includes the completion of 13 townhomes by May 2013, and 72 apartments available for rent by Oct. 2013. Phase II is slated for completion by fall 2014 and will include 60 co-housing units and 13 townhomes for sale.
