"Orphaned" lots, once unbuildable because they were below gravity sewer grade, can now be salvaged thanks to a low-pressure central sewer system from Environment One Corporation called the Home Wastewater Disposal System.
The system collects all wastewater from the home, grinds up solids and sends it all from the home to the treatment facility through small-diameter pipes buried just below the frost line. Savings for the builder and the homeowner are substantial.
Builders can also save up to 80% of their upfront costs because they don't need to buy the home disposal unit until just before the house is turned over to the homeowner.
Environmental disruption is minimized. The piping can follow the contours of the landscape, so deep digging is eliminated. Trees don't have to be bulldozed for a septic field, and because the sewer system is a closed-loop system, it doesn't allow untreated storm overflow back into the water resource.
"We are half the cost of a conventional sewer system, easy to install and environmentally friendly," E/One president Mike Stepanovich says. "And with a proven mean time between service calls of 10 years, our value is hard to beat."
