Solar and Wind Generator for Construction Sites

This solar and wind generator used on home construction sites avoids any use of gas and diesel fuel

This generator has the ability to supply gas-free electric to a workforce of up to 15 tradesmen.

Dick Gammell is the owner of Canadice Construction in Springwater, N.Y., and he's built and employed a new wind/solar generator on his job sites to curb his gas and diesel generator use.

Canadice Construction's Solar/Wind 650 has a 350watt Super Wind windmill, originally designed for boats, plus a row of Sharp photovoltaic panels. The panels and the windmill are charged and hooked to a knee-high bank of Trojan deep-cycle, lead-acid batteries. Gammell uses conventional batteries to hold costs down but will build with any battery the customer likes. Two power inverters inside the trailer, including one for cordless tool recharging, convert DC power to AC.
