Close the sales office until a new hire is trained?! There's plenty of experienced sales people out there. Perhaps if the builders paid a more aggressive commission to their sales staff they'd be able to recruit top producers. Perhaps they shouldn't have reduced their loyal sales staff's commissions when the market was hot, then they wouldn't have to hire and train people with no prior experience. The cost of lost sales and prospects due to an office being closed for training vs. paying a higher commission for an experienced new home sales person and reducing turnover? Perhaps this type of mentality contributed to the current struggle of homebuilders just to stay in business. If the homes sold themselves, they'd all be on lock boxes.
