Although the concept of Green Building is extremely important, the need for regulation of all of the deceptive companies entering the market needs to improve. We are having a horrible time building our green home. Everyone is a "green" supplier or contractor whether they know anything abour energy efficiency of not. Even established products like SIPs are a problem. We are using a company called EZ-Build, ordered our panels 6 months ago and are still waiting on them to complete the project. There needs to be some form of sonsumer protection from all of these charlatans.

Have been involved in seveal commercial and state buildings designed and built to LEED STANDARDS. Development and processing of the design and consdtruction to meet LEED is costly. I am not sure it is worth the added cost for the project.
As a Forensic inspector/expert witness "Green" material failures is good business. Water soluable concrete expansion joints that desolve after installation. (Water is used in the concrete and concrete is water cured)left 3/4" gap in slabs @10' on center. Prairie roofs that leak and have to have the material removed using a crane, dump trucks, rented dirt storage area, city fees for blocking street with crane and dump trucks, replanting the roof..... New "green " recycled cotton buiding insulation - it's applied wet and it's not pre-shrunk, walls closed before insulation dry and created mold in the walls. Concrete with 40-50% Flyash - 28 day concrete strength not achieved until 85 days, construction stopped until minimum strength achieved, project delayed 46 days. Green is good busine$$ for attournies. I love it!!...
