Ideas for Bathroom Lighting

The bathroom needs plenty of even, shadow-free lighting for shaving, grooming, and applying makeup. In a smaller bath, mirror lights will illuminate the entire room, but in larger spaces an additional ceiling fixture is needed for general lighting.

Placing light fixtures on each side of the above-sink mirror will illuminate both sides of the face evenly. Fixtures equipped with incandescent or fluorescent bulbs behind glass or plastic diffusers provide very good, flattering light. You can also mount an additional fixture across the top of the mirror or from the ceiling.

To give your bath more personal charm and a warmer look, try adding an iron fixture. Iron sconces in the bath provide an interesting natural texture that is warm and rustic.

A big continuing trend places crystal in the bath for an added sparkle and a pampered spa feel. We have seen contemporary crystal wall fixtures such as this do well, but more traditional mini-pendants can also work for larger spaces.

We are recently seeing more diversity in style within our ENERGY STAR® certified selection of bath sconces. These fixtures not only provide a long-term cost savings but the lessened environmental impact can also be a good selling point for the design. There are some interesting alabaster glass sconces that could provide a nice, natural accent in the right setting.

Hi Otto, I am hesitant to refer you to anyone here at LAMPS PLUS for a project still so early in development. Why don't you take a look at the resources for entrepreneurs in your area? SCORE or your local chamber of commerce may have some ideas for you. You need to make sure you are protecting your idea and any business you may contact early on from patent issues down the line.
