1. Saving on energy costs – Ceiling fans increase the efficiency of cooling and heating systems. During the summer, a ceiling fan can reduce the perceived temperature of a room by as much as 8° F. The thermostat can be adjusted accordingly.
2. Making a visual statement or not – Available in almost any style and finish, ceiling fans can reinforce the unique style of almost any room. Another option is to match the fan to the color of the ceiling for a more subtle presence. Contemporary, streamlined designs have seen a recent increase in popularity.
3. Adding light – Mix n' match light kits are a fairly recent development. This is a good option for matching a specific interior style or updating an older fan motor. I like using uplight ceiling fans to add more ambient light. With an uplight fan you get extra light in the room while maintaining a simpler look.
4. Circulating air – Placement near kitchens or outside, above porches allow the distribution of hotter/cooler pockets of air throughout a space for a more comfortable feel no matter where you are.
