MEET THE JETSONS, or be them at home

For many of us homeowners out there, the extent of our houses being digitized is having a working microwave oven. But for Homearama builder John W. "Chip" Iuliano of Area Builders of Tidewater, his "Strawberry Festival House" should have been dubbed "Totally Digital."

This 4,827-square-foot stately home - with 726 square feet in a detached garage - features all the latest, including flat-screen televisions that can be used for computer workstations and the latest gaming consoles as well as faster-than-a-speeding-bullet Internet connections.

A state-of-the-art speaker system runs throughout the house, including on the back patio and in the garage, where is it built to handle high humidity, like the kind we sweat out in Hampton Roads.

If the latest in flat-screen, large TVs, heating and air conditioning, sound, telephones and appliances aren't enough, check out the house's Media Room. With its award-winning CineWide with Autoscope technology projector and pure digital audio system, the cinema might make you forget you're watching a movie in your own home.

Want to check it all out and see for yourself, plus six other custom-built homes? Visit Homearama 2008 at Ashville Park in Virginia Beach today through Oct. 19. For more information, visit www.homearama.tv.

You probably haven't heard about Paul Baran. T he innovator and Silicon Valley entrepreneur isn't much for talking about himself.

Baran, 82, last week received a National Medal of Technology and Innovation from President Bush at the White House for giving us some of the key Internet building blocks. You've heard of the Internet, right? That place in Cyber World that most of us can't live without?

So, what does Baran think about it all?

"Beats the hell out of me," Baran recently told the San Jose Mercury News.

Technology's a team sport, he said.

"Each of us does a little piece," he said. "I've done one thing. "

Even for someone who helped us reach the future, it's nice to know there's some modesty in the valley.

For the record, the medal was presented to Baran for developing packet switching, the process of chopping digital information into small packages that can be sent across the Internet and reassembled when they reach their destination. (Think e-mail, Web pages, etc.) It's a cruel job, but someone's got to do it - compile the most absurd social-networking sites out there .

That's what PCMag.com recently did when it set about amassing a list of the 10 most absurd Web sites where people can get a daily dose of things that turn 'em on, so to speak.

Feel the need to bless or be blessed? Forget about church. Visit Line For Heaven . You can also be forgiven of your sins and confess why you think you deserve to pass through the Pearly Gates .

At Dogster , make your furry friend a star by introducing it to other canine lovers. Post pictures, talk about favorite foods and debate the pros and cons of the squeaky toy.

Feeling pretty hot? On fire? Well, go for it and post your photo at HotEnough.org and let others rate whether you've got the look. Three photos approved by the dating site's editors gets you a spot on the site.

We won't give them all away. If you're curious, visit www.pcmag.com and search for "10 Most Absurd Social Networks ." - From Pilot and wire reports
