On the court and off, basketball plays an important part in David Caligaris' life.

President of Newton, Mass.-based The Green Co., he was a two-time Academic All-American at Northeastern University in Boston, where he set a single-season school record of 24.6 points per game that still stands and graduated atop the career scoring list (he's now No. 4).

Caligaris shows his love of the game these days by organizing an 80-team youth program involving 750 kids (including his two daughters) in Sudbury, Mass., his hometown. The season starts in November and runs through March, with in-town and traveling teams, so logistics get complicated quickly.

"It's like a running a small business, but I love it," Caligaris says. "It's my chance to give back to the game for the many coaches who helped me learn."

Caligaris coaches two of the traveling teams. "Girls are fun to coach," he says. "They're interested in learning, excited to accomplish new things and love it when their friends do well, too."
