Furniture in the Bath

Storage Solution

"Interior decorators and homeowners have done a super job of furnishing other rooms in the house," says American Standard director of design Gary Uhl, "and now they are using more and more furniture in the bath."

American Standard's line of bathroom furniture includes the new Brook console table, a free-standing vanity that accommodates undermount and top-mounted sinks. Uhl, who designed the piece, says its shape echoes washstands of old - the pre-plumbing kind with just a pitcher and a bowl for washing up. Its classic, clean lines and three finishes fit in with contemporary and traditional baths, he says.

The Brook console table might be most appropriate for a guest bath, as it does not provide the same storage as a standard vanity. It does feature an open shelf below and two pull-down doors on the sides with enough space to stash extra toilet paper or towels.
