Today’s home buyers are making the kitchen the center of their family’s living and entertainment space — family rooms and dining areas typically radiate out from where food is stored and meals are prepared. Not a simple workspace, kitch-ens must make a design statement.

Monique Studio of Burlington, Mass., uses fused and kiln-formed glass to create distinctive cabinet inserts. For those who like the look of glass inserts in their cabinets but don’t like their cabinet contents exposed, these inserts might be the answer.

The glass can be opaque or translucent, depending upon the colors and types of glass used in the design. Glass tiles for a backsplash area can be designed to complement the glass cabinet insert.

Using a Cruse camera first developed for satellite technology, the company reproduces an original oil painting with a finish at least equal to that of traditional prints. The reproductions are encapsulated in a vinyl laminate to ensure that they last as long as the appliance itself. Panels are signed and numbered by the artist.
