QuickBooks Premier: Contractor Edition 2003 is a new software product made for contractors with no more than 20 in-house employees.
The product includes all the features found in the QuickBooks financial program now in use in more than 350,000 contracting businesses, plus several contractor-specific features. New job-cost reports include job costs detail, job costs by vendor, expenses not assigned to jobs, unpaid bills by job, unpaid job bills by vendor and estimated versus actual costs.
New business report options include job status, open purchase orders by vendor and three new time reports. On the estimating side, this program lets users save and track edits as change order memos that can be printed for customers.
Probably the most significant addition is what maker Intuit calls the "expert analysis tool," which is designed to interpret financial data to assess company performance, compare it against others in the industry and provide suggestions for improving and growing the business.
