Gorell’s new SolarControl Low-E coating is now being used in all laminated glass systems for Gorell windows and doors made for security and severe-weather applications. The coating helps lower U-values and significantly lower solar heat gain ratings. According to the company, the coating filters out 99 percent of the spectrum of UV light that fades draperies, carpeting and other home furnishings. These glass systems feature a Fade Protection Factor (FPF) of 50. (Gorell says FPF is a rating derived from independent laboratory testing to measure fade protection)
