IRVINE, CALIF. (October 5, 2009) – National concrete roof tile manufacturer MonierLifetile® is partnering with the California Energy Commission to inform and educate building professionals on California Title 24 new building code requirements related to cool roofing.
In August, MonierLifetile hosted a seminar for the building community in Irvine, Calif. More than 100 builders, architects and roofing contractors attended the event. The standing room only event was so well attended, the company has now made the seminar available to everyone through its website. New code requirements for cool roofs in California will take effect January 1, 2010 as part of California Title 24 Building Energy Efficiency Standards. The educational video and brochure focus on current and future requirements for cool roofs in California.
According to Chris Doelle, vice president of sales and marketing for MonierLifetile, the seminar provides critical information to the building community. “There’s a real need for building professionals to understand the intricacies of the code changes and how this will impact their new construction and reroof projects,” Doelle said. “Our goal with this podcast is to share this data on cool roofs with the building community at large,” he added. “Cool roofs and energy efficiency are critical throughout the nation.”
Cool roofs are highly reflective, highly emissive roofing materials that stay 50 to 60 degrees cooler than a normal roof under a hot summer sun, offering homeowners considerable cost savings. Concrete roof tile is an energy efficient cool roofing solution.
MonierLifetile is the leading manufacturer of concrete roof tile across North America. The company’s innovative Energy Efficient Roof System utilizes an elevated batten system, vented eave risers and ridge guards to reduce energy costs. Studies have shown the system can reduce the amount of heat penetrating the conditioned space by 50% versus direct-to-deck installations, resulting in 22% lower energy consumption.
