The perfect living environment for a young family
December 31, 2008

The perfect living environment for a young family, this 9,694-square-foot custom home in Brentwood, Calif., blends natural materials with high-tech features. Architect Rocky Rockefeller calls it a modern Craftsman — a contemporary California interpretation of the Craftsman style that emphasizes meticulous detailing, warm woods and clean lines. In the living room, sliding glass walls, corner glass and clerestory windows nearly erase the boundary between interior and exterior space. Deep roof overhangs help reduce heat gain from the sun.

Builder: Fischer Construction, Los Angeles, Calif.
Architect: Rockefeller Partners Architects, El Segundo, Calif.
