Zillow refines new construction home search

Zillow has teamed up with home builders like Beazer and Pulte to revolutionize the new construction home search, according to Zillow.com.

Previously on Zillow, a single home icon on the maps indicated a planned community, which could represent hundreds of homes and floor plans. The maps now show the entire outline of planned communities, allowing buyers to find new construction homes more easily and provide additional for-sale options within a given area.

By clicking into these highly visible communities, a buyer then sees the entire inventory of individual homes for sale within the community. Shoppers can visit individual home details pages to get information and photos specific to each home style, walk through interactive floor plans and watch videos that showcase a community’s amenities.

Builders can showcase their new homes

For builders, this is an opportunity to get their new constructions homes to Zillow’s 22 million monthly unique users on both the Web and mobile devices.

New homes will now receive greater exposure to home shoppers of all kinds, not just those predisposed to new construction. Twenty-four percent of all sales in April were foreclosure re-sales, which often require greater maintenance. Zillow’s new construction focus helps shoppers to more easily find new homes, and allows builders to highlight new homes and planned communities features.
