LEED-ND standards help Indiana residential neighborhood revitalization
The Mapleton-Fall Creek Development Corporation chose the LEED-ND framework to engage residents, public entities, and private investors in a comprehensive strategy to plan for its future.
Mapleton-Fall Creek, a neighborhood in Indianapolis, provides an excellent example of LEED-ND being used to revitalize a community. Over the last 50 years, this once-vibrant neighborhood suffered from excessive suburban sprawl. The Mapleton-Fall Creek Development Corporation (MFCDC) chose the LEED-ND framework to engage residents, public entities, and private investors in a comprehensive strategy to plan for its future. Traffic-calming measures, roadway re-striping, signal improvements and trail extensions provide for improved mobility through the neighborhood.
