The Homesteads was built on a 15-acre parcel of land donated by a long-time area resident in exchange for a promise to develop housing for Cape Cod’s working families. The project was subsidized by public funding and 16 units, ranging from $150,000 to $225,000, were sold by lottery to low- and moderate-income buyers. Three primary house types done in Cape Cod/Saltbox style provide a diverse neighborhood streetscape. The Energy Star-rated homes are two stories with three bedrooms, two full baths, covered front porches and private rear decks.
