Realtors: Chicago most searched housing market online in March
Top 10 of 146 markets nationwide remained the same from February to March
Chicago remained the housing market most frequently searched online in March, according to new monthly data from the National Association of Realtors. Realtor Mag, the online magazine of NAR, featured Chicago and the rest of the top 10 most-searched markets in an article released Thursday.
The list can be found below. Each market also includes data on the median list prices, total number of listings and the median age of inventory; all percent changes are year-over-year:
1. Chicago
- Median list price: $190,000 (-9.48 percent)
- Total listings: 56,739 (-15.89 percent)
- Median age of inventory: 116 days (-4.92 percent)
2. Detroit
- Median list price: $85,900 (-1.83 percent)
- Total listings: 21,686 (-25.98 percent)
- Median age of inventory: 52 days (-26.76 percent)
3. Los Angeles-Long Beach, Calif.
- Median list price: $329,000 (-2.95 percent)
- Total listings: 27,033 (-13.14 percent)
- Median age of inventory: 67 days (+8.06 percent)
4. Philadelphia, Pa.-N.J.
- Median list price: $229,900 (-3.77 percent)
- Total listings: 24,753 (+6.31 percent)
- Median age of inventory: 94 days (-9.62 percent
5. Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, Fla.
- Median list price: $147,500 (+5.36 percent)
- Total listings: 18,250 (-37.35 percent)
- Median age of inventory: 92 days (-17.12 percent)
6. Phoenix-Mesa, Ariz.
- Median list price: $179,000 (+23.45 percent)
- Total listings: 16,341 (-48 percent)
- Median age of inventory: 58 days (-27.50 percent)
7. Atlanta
- Median list price: $159,900 (+3.16 percent)
- Total listings: 47,422 (-39.26 percent)
- Median age of inventory: 65 days (-23.53 percent)
8. Dallas
- Median list price: $197,900 (+7.47 percent)
- Total listings: 17,228 (-26.60 percent)
- Median age of inventory: 58 days (-25.64 percent)
9. Las Vegas, Nev.-Ariz.
- Median list price: $124,900 (-1.26 percent)
- Total listings: 20,837 (-20.67 percent)
- Median age of inventory: 93 days (0 percent)
10. Orlando, Fla.
- Median list price: $155,000 (+3.33 percent)
- Total listings: 10,284 (-39 percent)
- Median age of inventory: 66 days (-35.29 percent)
The median nationwide list price for March was $189,900, up 5.56 percent from March 2011. The number of total listings decreased 21.48 percent to 1.8 million; median age was 89 days, down 19.82 percent from last year.
