Good article Corey, any positive information directing builders and the public toward green construction is certainly a step in the right direction. In 2003 after a lengthy, through study, twenty five other good stewards and I helped Donna Stankus AIA develop and write North Carolinas only state wide green building program. I promptly advised my local HBA board and anyone else who would listen, that getting this program up and running and adopting its platform would make greening easier, and as a bonus, keep it from being code mandated. So far this has proved to be true; the code however is quickly catching up.
