3000+ sq. ft home high isulation, brick, vaulted ceiling in master, family room, looking to replace old {18 year old ac unit] has new furnace 80% 150,000 btu. is a 5 ton unit good enough or do you feel its necessary to split the house wit 2 systems. the lower half is fine...the upper half struggles. we have set back the regesters in the lower to get more air up stairs. your thoughts would be appreciated...tim moore

Hello
I have a question on some ductwork in my home. I want to finish my basement, but the ductwork hangs down where my doors will be and so I thought maybe that I could reduce my ductwork from 8 by 12 to 4 by 12. Will that effect anything as far as heating or cooling goes?
Thanks
