Seisco model r28 takless waterheater, 3 years old, leaking already. To repair, must pay plumber service call plus hourly rate, plus cost of parts, plus shipping, and costs will be high because they have to take the whole unit off the wall to find the leak and install new parts, repair it and then replace it. Baloney....this is a piece of junk, had we investigated prior to having this put in our new house, we would have stayed with the good old regular water heater tank, which last for years with no problems.

My gas meter is on the opposite corner of the house & garage where our current H2o heater is situated with the washer & dryer. If I intsall a tankless model in the same location, will the 3/4" gas house line need to be increased in diameter. If so, I do not think the existing gas piping could be reached as it runs through the walls...Do tankless heater require more gas volumn?
Thank you.

It's interesting how "old is new again".

When I was growing up in Lorain, Ohio in the 1950s we had a gas fired tankless water heater.

As I remember it was filled with coils of tubing, possibly copper because they were green. And wow did they glow red when the unit was active.

Anyhow, in the winter the city water was drawn from Lake Erie so it was almost freezing. Even when it got to our house it was still very cold. But the continuous heating unit kept up with the demand quite well.

I have no idea who made the unit but as far as I know it it still in use.
