100th Verifier Accredited for National Green Building Certification

NAHB has reached a milestone. The 100th verifier for National Green Building Certification was recently accredited by the NAHB Research Center. The Research Center is the sole certifying body for NAHB’s National Green Building Program. They are responsible for training and accrediting eligible individuals to verify homes across the country. Once someone has been accredited by the Research Center, they are authorized to conduct inspections to verify whether a home meets the national certification criteria based on the NAHB Model Green Home Building Guidelines.

Using third-party verifiers removes the bias that would be present if the home builders did it themselves. National Green Building Certification verifiers evaluate a home’s energy efficiency, water and resource conservation, use of sustainable or recycled products, indoor air quality, and lot design and development. The NAHB Research Center continues to seek interested, qualified individuals to become verifiers. All candidates must meet the pre-requisites, participate in training, and pass a accreditation test administered by the NAHB Research Center.
