Habitat for Humanity recently completed the first LEED Platinum-certified house in Mecklenburg County, N.C. The home features reflective roof shingles, all natural materials inside including hardwood floors and granite countertops, and is expected to save 25 to 30 percent on energy bills compared with a home built to conventional standards.
