I don't know why my builder, Ryland Homes, stopped using J.D. Power, and went with Eliant, but my breast cancer survivor wife and I had a very stressful and unenjoyable first year in our new house. It was due to over 100 problems that wasted our time in getting them all fixed. "Home Readiness" (an important J.D. Power factor) was very poor in our opinion. Dealing with late or "no show" subcontractors, and our first on site builder who did not return my phone calls or emails 95% of the time, gave us an unenjoyable customer experience. No Ryland Homes Divisional Management apology was ever given to us.

Although few home builders have been profitable, this year, here are details about an exception: Hamptons Luxury Homes, Inc., a construction services company that builds and renovates multi-million dollar estate homes in the Hamptons area of Long Island, New York, reported another quarter of comparative revenue growth and profitability, marking the sixth consecutive profitable quarter for the company during a period when many within the industry have encountered difficult times.
