A capillary-tube system that runs through geopolymer precast-concrete wall panels helps heat and cool a house entered in the Solar Decathlon 2013 competition. The University of North Carolina at Charlotte's design uses concrete, made with fly ash, slashes carbon emissions by 90 percent and releases no carbon dioxide while curing.
