Free Admission for Students and Faculty to Frame Building Expo
The National Frame Building Association has assembled an extensive educational programming lineup for its annual convention and trade show. Construction industry students and instructors can be admitted free.
The National Frame Building Association (NFBA) has assembled an extensive educational programming lineup for its annual convention and trade show, Frame Building Expo, Feb. 25-27, 2009 at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center in Nashville, Tenn. Students interested in a career in the construction industry and their instructors will want to come to take advantage of a special offer for free admission to the Expo
Contractors, manufacturers, distributors, architects, engineers, code officials and building owners will pay a reasonable registration fee for the event, but students and faculty may attend the convention for free with a valid student identification card or other proof of current enrollment. Pre-registration is available online at www.nfba.org, and is strongly encouraged - a $10 per person charge applies to registrations received after January 26. Students and faculty must present the required identification at the convention center on one or more days to receive a special pass that will allow them access to educational programs and the trade show floor.
Vocational and post-secondary students who study construction technology, engineering, architecture, industrial safety and related fields will not want to miss this opportunity to network and learn about the post-frame building industry from construction experts. Students can learn from educational sessions on construction safety, business management, and engineering, architecture, and other topics offered on various days. They will also see the many products and services offered by exhibitors on the trade show floor, and can network to help them get involved in the industry. The Expo is a good choice for construction industry curriculum-related field trips.
The Frame Building Expo is the only event where post-frame industry professionals from across the nation can mingle and share ideas. Today’s students will become tomorrow’s construction professionals, and we want them to be aware of the capabilities of post-frame design so the industry will continue to grow. The association also has teaching aids, including videos, articles and power-point presentations, which instructors may request from NFBA to teach students about post-frame construction.
In addition to the extensive technical educational opportunities, students will learn of many products used in the construction industry at the Expo. The Expo Trade Show Floor will be open from 2 - 6 p.m. Wednesday, Noon – 4:30 p.m. Thursday, and 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Friday, where everyone can see the newest products, enter prize drawings and participate in special events.
Several fun events are scheduled for the Expo. On separate nights, Plyco Corp. and Wheeling Corrugating Co. will each host a hospitality function for attendees. Thursday’s trade show will feature a “Screw Driving Competition” sponsored by Atlas Bolt & Screw Co, and Friday’s will feature a “Nail Pounding Competition” sponsored by Maze Nails. There will be meal events also at the Expo, which students and faculty may participate in for an additional fee.
