Food preparation doesn't have to be confined to the kitchen with La Cornue's Vatelier, a portable culinary center. The walnut unit features a small sink with a single-handle faucet, a cutting board, 12 spice drawers and a knife rack. Two shelves under the counter can be used for food storage (in the two wooden baskets provided) or to stow additional cooking utensils or linen. La Cornue says the Vatelier can be used near an outdoor cooking source or in remote spaces such as a cottage, as well as in the kitchen. The station sells for $8,600.
