The existing his-and-hers bathrooms in this Michigan home had dated finishes and were dark, entirely interior spaces.

By rearranging the space, the design and remodeling team of CBi Design Professionals and Thomas Sebold & Associates was able to provide both baths with natural light.

The project was part of a larger remodel that won two other awards this year: a Gold Award for finished basement and a Silver Award for whole house.

All the finishes in the bathroom were updated to match the higher-end work being done throughout the rest of the home. A local furniture maker created custom furniture-style vanities and matching wall panels.

In order to support the new slab stone countertops, the design and construction teams brought in structural steel to support the existing wood structures.

So as not to disturb the surrounding space or the ornate paneled library below the bathrooms, the construction work was done by opening a temporary hole through the exterior stone veneer panels and the construction team built a set of temporary exterior stairs.
