Shingles that protrude from a roof often mean that roofing nails used during installation were too short, according to a Minnesota home inspector. In areas where snow loads are part of the building code, the roof sheathing should be thicker, which means longer roofing nails are needed. But sometimes "storm chasers" don't know the local codes, which can leave a defective roof. For the full report, click here.
