California code revisions move state closer to net-zero energy requirement

Under Title 24, all new residential construction must be net zero by 2020 with all new commercial buildings achieving this goal by 2030.

Starting in 2014, California is implementing building code revisions called Title 24 that will move the state’s residential and commercial buildings toward net zero energy. In a NZE building, the annual energy consumption is equal to its annual production of renewable energy. Under Title 24, all new residential construction must be net zero by 2020 with all new commercial buildings achieving this goal by 2030.
