Insulation Firms Honored for Quality Program
Two insulation firms -- Collins & Co. of Vernon, Conn., and Comfort Insulation of Bend, Ore. -- have been named National Certified Contractor Firms of the Year for their involvement in the Certified Insulation Contractor Program, operated by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Research Center and developed in conjunction with CertainTeed Corp., Valley Forge, Pa.
The Certified Contractor Program, begun in 1995, is the home building industry’s first program to certify the installation of insulation products in the construction of new homes. Contractors achieve certification only after they have established a recognized quality system. Comfort Insulation and Collins & Co. have been certified since 1995 and 1997, respectively.
The two firms were chosen "because they continuously receive high marks in leadership and management of the program, satisfying customer needs, hiring and developing quality people, and actively promoting the program to builders in their community," says Glenn Singer, manager of customer programs at CertainTeed.
