Del Webb Supers Get Connected

Del Webb Corporation, Phoenix, has introduced a computer system for field superintendents which is expected to save the company $60,000 per year in Las Vegas alone. Each of the superintendents for Sun City Las Vegas now works with a laptop computer to help them track the progress of each home under construction.

"We call it the FSP, for Filed Superintendent Program," says Paul Torblaa, director of construction. "With this program, we can link our supers with architectural options and change orders through the main computer system."

This allows Del Webb supers to save time and money by allowing them to electronically view and change options to new homes under construction. Before the FSP, supers were required to keep reams of files on hand at all times to monitor options and changes made to all Del Webb homes across the valley. With more than 1900 homes closed in the past 12 months, that translated into quite a bit of paper.

"It’s our goal to be efficient in all areas," says Torblaa. "We now have the ability to be more efficient and save money for our business and our customers."

The FSP was originally introduced at Sun City Grand in Phoenix, and has been operational in the company’s Las Vegas developments for the past five months.
